PG & E Users

Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) provides electricity and natural gas to millions of customers in northern California. You can save energy and save money through PG&E's conservation programs:
  1. Subsidizing compact fluorescent light bulbs
Anyone can purchase discounted compact fluorescent light bulbs from stores in the PG&E region. Compact fluorescent bulbs have come down in price in recent years, and they're much higher quality, too. The discount from PG&E makes replacing old-style incandescent light bulbs a no-brainer. For more information about CFLs, see PG&E's CFL fact sheet about dimmable CFLs, and about mercury in CFLs. It turns out that CFLs are responsible for far less mercury pollution than are incandescent bulbs. And, the mercury in CFLs is much easier to contain properly.
  2. Rebates for your old fridge, freezer, or AC
PG&E will give you a $35 rebate for your fridge or freezer, and $25 for a room AC. These appliances are major electricity users in most homes. If your fridge, freezer, or AC are 10 years old or more, a newer more efficient model will save you electricity and money.
  3. Other rebates
Check out the other rebates offered from PG&E for heating and cooling, lighting, appliances, and remodeling.
  4. Solar incentives
PG&E provides financial incentives for installing solar power in your home.
