There are many ways to reduce your energy consumption. Here are a few ways to start.
  1. Use compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) in your home. These use only 25% as much electricity and last ten times longer than old-style incandescent light bulbs.
  2. Turn things OFF when they’re not in use. It’s a myth that turning lights off and on uses more energy than leaving them on. So just get into the habit of turning it off, and train your family, too!
  3. If you are buying new appliances, look for efficient ones with the Energy Star label. Check your local utilities, also, for incentives for buying efficient appliances.
  4. Set your thermostat a little higher in the summer and lower in the winter. A few degrees can save you lots of energy, and money!
